Last Updated: June 4, 2025
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit websites. They help us provide you with a better, more personalized experience on Revfer. You have choices about how we use cookies. This policy explains what cookies we use, why we use them, and how you can manage your preferences.
We use four types of cookies: essential cookies, required for basic website functionality; analytics cookies, which help us understand how you use our site; functional cookies, which remember your preferences and settings; and marketing cookies, which deliver relevant content and advertising.
This Cookie Policy is part of our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Changes to this policy will be communicated through our standard notification process.
Essential cookies are necessary for our website to function properly. They cannot be disabled, because they are critical for basic website operations.
Authentication and security (revfer_session, auth_token, csrf_token): keep you logged in securely and protect against security threats, including cross-site request forgery. Duration: session cookies, deleted when you close your browser, or 30 days for "Remember Me".
Platform functionality (revfer_settings, ui_state, location_consent): remember your settings and preferences during your visit, such as language preference, UI customizations, consent choices and temporary data for features like search filters. Duration: session to 1 year depending on setting type.
Load balancing and performance (aws_server, cdn_region): route your requests to the optimal server for faster loading and a consistent experience. Duration: session cookies.
Essential cookies are fundamental to website security and basic functionality. Disabling them would prevent you from logging in, maintaining sessions, or using core features safely.
Analytics cookies help us understand how users interact with our platform so we can improve performance and user experience.
Usage analytics (Google Analytics and internal analytics; _ga, _ga_*, _gid, revfer_analytics): track page views, user journeys and feature usage. Duration: 1 day to 2 years.
Performance monitoring (AWS CloudWatch and internal monitoring; perf_monitor, error_tracking): monitor site performance, loading times and technical errors. Duration: session to 30 days.
A/B testing and optimization (internal testing platform; ab_test_group, feature_flag): serve different versions of features to test improvements and keep your experience consistent during tests. Duration: 30 to 90 days.
Analytics data is anonymized and aggregated. We don't use this data to identify individual users or for purposes beyond platform improvement. You can opt out of analytics cookies in your preferences.
Functional cookies remember your choices and provide enhanced, personalized features.
Personalization and preferences (user_prefs, display_settings, search_filters; 6 months to 1 year): language and region preferences, display name and profile visibility settings, search filters and business category preferences, review sorting, and map view and location sharing settings.
AI and recommendation features (ai_prefs, recommendation_state; 3 to 12 months): AI review assistance preferences, recommendation tuning, personalized "For You" content, and smart rating participation settings.
Social and network features (network_state, social_prefs, trust_settings; 6 months to 1 year): trust network visibility and connection preferences, business following and notification settings, community verification preferences, and social sharing and privacy controls.
These cookies are not essential, but disabling them means you'll need to reset your preferences each visit.
Marketing cookies help us show you relevant content and advertisements, both on our platform and on other websites.
Targeted content and recommendations (content_targeting, business_interests; 30 days to 1 year): personalized business recommendations, relevant trending businesses in your area, targeted content in newsletters and notifications, and customized onboarding.
Third-party advertising (Google Ads, Facebook Pixel, LinkedIn Insight; _fbp, _fbc, li_sugr, google_ads_*; 90 days to 2 years, set by third parties): show relevant Revfer ads when you visit other websites.
Campaign tracking and attribution (utm_source, campaign_id, referral_tracking; 30 to 180 days): understand how you discovered Revfer and measure campaign effectiveness.
You can disable marketing cookies without affecting core platform functionality.
AI and processing services (OpenAI): AI-assisted review writing and content processing. Temporary processing only, with no long-term storage of your personal data.
Analytics and monitoring (Google Analytics, AWS CloudWatch): website analytics and performance monitoring, using anonymized, aggregated data.
Payment processing (Stripe, PayPal): secure, PCI-compliant payment processing for premium features, including cookies for fraud detection.
Social media integration (Facebook, Google, LinkedIn): social login and sharing features, governed by each provider's privacy policy.
Third-party cookies are governed by each provider's privacy policy. You can control many of them through your browser settings or each provider's opt-out page.
